About Us
Geo.me Solutions develops web services and rich internet applications for businesses. Predominantly focused on visualising
location and time based data, GeoMapper is the cornerstone of our product framework. View our demonstration showcase for more information.
Geo.me Solutions was founded in 2009 by Stuart Grant and Jim Strong. Both Jim and Stuart had been innovators and directors of web technology in previous roles, and recognised the opportunities for more efficient delivery of software services offered by cloud computing, rich internet applications, service-oriented software architecture and the Software as a Service business model. Geo.me Solutions is a new company that applies the working methodologies needed to take advantage of these technological advances. It is a best practice, best of breed IT services business, built upon 3 core principles:
- Agile Development
- A Cloud Based, highly flexible infrastructure
- Best Practice and adaptive technology
These principles are manifested in, and are being built upon through our Agile Agenda, our Cloud Infrastructure and our modular service-oriented software framework.
Chairman - Steven Feldman
Trained as an economist, Steven spent the first 20 years of his working life in building materials before stumbling upon GIS. A chance conversation led to him becoming General Manager of GDC and Head of Professional Services at whereonearth.com during the wackiest part of the dot com boom and bust.
In 2002 Steven and some colleagues bought out GDC with investment support from nearly all of the employees. 4 years later GDC had grown to be one of the leading suppliers of e-Government solutions and corporate GI to Local Government with a strong reputation for innovation and customer service. MapInfo bought the business in 2007.
After working for MapInfo for 18 months as UK MD and Director of Product and Industry Strategy, EMEA, Steven branched out to look for the next big thing. He joined Geo.me as Chairman in May 2010.
Steven founded and chaired the first three AGI GeoCommunity conferences. When not working, Steven blogs, tweets and follows the Arsenal.
Founder - Stuart Grant Ph.D.
Since completing a Ph.D. in Artificial Intelligence, Stuart has spent 12 years applying these skills to real-world problems. His break-out from academia was as a founding member of an £18 million technology start-up in the late 1990's that was eventually acquired by Cisco Systems. Following this, he pursued a career in blue-chip technology consulting, operating in France and the United States, before returning to the UK to deliver online payment systems and location-aware web services for major wireless broadband providers.
The appearance of three game-changing technologies - web applications, agile development frameworks and cloud computing - prompted him to direct the R&D programme that has brought Geo.me Solutions to market. When not in a sailboat or on skis, Stuart is based in London.
Founder - Jim Strong
Prior to founding Geo.me Solutions, Jim worked as Principal Web Consultant for a large consultancy for 8 years. Jim led the Design and Development team and was responsible for all UK Web Team delivery as well as a number of strategic initiatives for public and private client projects. In 2008 he wrote a paper covering The Use and Implications of Web 2.0 Technologies in Local Government as part of a programme to enable clients to derive a strategic direction to their web presence while ensuring operational sustainability.
Jim also founded Urbansocial, an online dating and events business providing an innovative approach to the market. In 2005 Jim pioneered the first fully customisable framework to provision dating white label solutions. This service has been adopted by many online clients attracted by the ease of integration and standards based data transfer. These experiences in web services that combine locational footprints and geographic and demographic search techniques are applied in the Geo.me Solutions framework.
Jim splits his time between London and Exeter and can usually be found training for his next triathlon or immersed in the Formula 1 season.
